Renewal 2026. We spent years building our rosters. Now we're speaking up for the investment, the commitment, and the community behind every hero.
The official notes describe temporary changes to passives, hero families and combat rules. These include both nerfs and buffs. Below we separate selected documented changes from our campaign’s position.
Selected changes from the official notes of 6 October 2026. Community opinion is presented separately. The notes do not specify every value.
One for All! becomes guaranteed, but triggers only from Cover damage, no longer from Special Skill hits.
View sourceGhost damage and post-form mana are reduced; one buff is dispelled instead of all. Ghost forms become Stubborn rather than undispellable.
View sourceAstral Demon cleansing becomes random and once per turn. Nine Lives can be blocked by ailments and passives.
View sourceCheat Death gains a reflection cap, targets the attacker and cannot activate for a lone surviving hero; only attacks and skills qualify.
View sourceThief’s Opportunity triggers on an ally’s Special Skill, not each turn, targeting the enemy with most buffs.
View sourceDispelling/cleansing halves Growth/Wither and removes one relevant Stack; Special Skill criticals halve Growth and remove one positive Stack.
View sourceBase critical chance decreases; defense survivability increases. Critical hits reduce maximum health in every mode.
View sourceSeedling/Sapling Fiend health falls. Ambush stops cleansing on application. Wild effects can deal triple damage.

Months and years developing heroes, learning strategies and building alliances.
For many players, paid summons, offers and resources are part of that investment.
Ascension materials, emblems and limit breaks take commitment to earn.
Long-term investment needs confidence that our choices will remain meaningful.
A live game needs balancing.
But when sweeping changes affect entire groups of heroes, players deserve transparency, dialogue and respect for the investment they have already made.
We love this game. That's why we're speaking up.
We are players because we care about Empires & Puzzles. Many of us have spent years building alliances, friendships and competitive rosters around this game.
Many of us spent real money on summons and months developing these heroes. In our view, changing Musketeers, Ghosts and so many other mechanics at once turns the game we invested in upside down. This is more than a minor balance adjustment: it undermines the role of our rosters and confidence in future purchases. We ask for the nerfs to be reversed and for meaningful dialogue with players.
For players who invested time, money and scarce resources into these heroes, this damages confidence in future investments.
We understand that balance changes are sometimes necessary. We ask Small Giant to listen, review Renewal 2026 and reverse the changes that significantly reduce the value and functionality of existing heroes and families.
We also ask for greater transparency and meaningful community consultation before future large-scale balance changes.
We want Empires & Puzzles to succeed. We want to keep competing and building our rosters. But that requires trust.
